You know that feeling when you spot something that almost works? The curtain that’s not quite the right length. The table that’s a smidge too bulky. The knockoff decor piece that kind of looks like the one you really want, but… not quite.
You buy it anyway. Because it’s cheaper. Because you’re impatient. Because your room feels incomplete and you just want to “get it done.”
But let me tell you something: that’s the trap.
Welcome back to Fix Up Friday, where we fix our homes and our habits—and today, we’re tackling one of the sneakiest mindset blocks in home improvement:
🛑 Settling for “good enough” instead of waiting for “just right.”
The Curtain Conundrum
Let’s talk about curtains, because they’re the perfect example.
You move into a space, the windows are tall, and you know you need long curtains to frame them properly. But custom-length ones are expensive, and the ready-made ones fall six inches too short.
So you go with the short ones. “For now.”
Except “for now” becomes forever. And now every time you walk past that room, something just feels off.
The space looks smaller. The vibe feels cheaper. And you start wondering if your Pinterest inspo was lying to you. Here's the truth: Short Curtains visually cut your space, make your room look smaller, and honestly... you’ll never love them. Your bare windows look much better in comparison.

Try This Instead:
Decorate slower, but with intention.
Live with empty space while you save.
Make a wishlist of what you really want.
Invest one item at a time — and be okay with the wait.
Remember: Your home doesn’t have to be “done” in 30 days. It’s not a race. It’s your safe space, your creative outlet, and your long-term project.
My Personal Story:
I myself waited for 7 months before buying a dining table for my new home. Yes, that meant eating on my bed, or the Kitchen Island, or even the floor. Not because I didn’t see alternatives.
Not because I didn’t want something now. But because I knew that if I gave in and bought a quick-fix piece, I’d always look at it and think: “It’s not what I really wanted.” I had already waited so much for my dream home, I didn't want to ruin it just because of my impatience.
That wait made the moment I finally placed that table in my space so worth it. It elevated everything around it. It reminded me that my home is a long-term project, not a race.
Trust me, those small upgrades you waited for? They’ll feel 10x more rewarding when you finally bring them home.

Anyway, these are just my thoughts. You do You! Until next Friday :)
